Simulation Verification in Practice

Abstract With the increased use of simulations as investigative tools in various scientific fields, question naturally arises to how these are epistemically justified. One natural approach is insist that numerical aspects simulation justification be performed separately from physical aspects, but Winsberg (2010) has argued this impossible for highly complex simulations. Based on a survey and close examination range astrophysical MHD codes their attendant literature, I argue insisting strict separation neither necessary nor advisable.
